Alaska Basic Economic Development Course
The University of Alaska Center for Economic Development is pleased to announce its second Alaska Basic Economic Development Course:

Tuesday, November 30– Friday, December 3, 2010
BP Energy Center 900 East Benson Boulevard Anchorage

The purpose of this course is to:

  1. Deliver relevant economic development training that addresses Alaska issues
  2. Bring together economic developers, elected officials, educators, and community leaders to share ideas and challenges, and to form professional networks
  3. Introduce economic development professionals to strategies, project implementation tactics, and resources that can be employed in Alaska's communities

The Alaska Basic Economic Development Course offers education in comprehensive economic and community development, tailored to the unique opportunities and challenges of Alaska.
This course has been designed for economic development practitioners from all sectors of the economy – public, private, or nonprofit. It is also appropriate for experienced professionals looking to adapt their skills to Alaska, economic development volunteers, and people working in cross-over fields such as transportation, utilities, real estate, finance, telecommunications, and native corporations. The Alaska BEDC is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), making it equivalent to IEDC's Introduction to Economic Development Course and eligible for the requirements of the IEDC Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam.

Registration

The registration fee for this four-day course is $600 per person. This includes all instructional and course materials, and lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Refunds will not be available for cancellations made after November 16, two weeks prior to the course.
